Ocean Grove is an 11 story, 54 unit condominium located on the Gulf of Mexico on beautiful Galveston Island. With breathtaking views of the water and just minutes from Moody Gardens and the historic Strand Area. 

For those who don't like the beach there is a 100 foot 3 lane swimming pool as well as a small wade pool. Sit and relax with your favorite beverage or a good book. Whatever your pleasure there is a little something for everyone!

Jerry Slaybaugh - Community Manager

Jerry joined the Ocean Grove Team in June 2019, after serving as Property Manager for By the Sea Condominiums, just a mile away, for 9 years. Aside from his extensive property management experience, Jerry has a background in security screening and training.  A native of Border, Texas Jerry has three grown children, two boys and a girl.  Jerry enjoys playing guitar and piano when he's not hard at work.  Ocean Grove is pleased to welcome Jerry!

Mike Salomon, P.E., Board President

Mike Salomon earned his BS in Civil Engineering in 1983 and his MBA in 1990, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He is President of Sandcastle Homes, Inc., a successful Houston homebuilding company he founded in 1995.  Mike has been active in real estate since purchasing his first home in 1984, at the age of 23 and served on numerous HOA Boards.  In the course of his business, he has also developed several communities and established about a dozen homeowner’s associations. He is a licensed Texas real estate Broker and a registered Professional Engineer.  Mike and his family have been owners at Ocean Grove since 2010 and Mike has served on the Board since being elected in December 2014. Mike has been married to Lauren for nearly 21 years and has three children, Analia, 19, Layla, 17, and Robby, 12.

John Kubis, V.P./Secretary

Ocean Grove condominium is my Full-time home. I have lived at Ocean Grove Condominiums since 2013. I watched the beginning to final construction of Ocean Grove while living at Maravilla condos (next door) from 2005 until 2013. I saw the quality and amount of attention to detail that went into the building process. I got to know the builder, Miguel Prida during Ocean Grove’s construction phase. Once I saw the construction of the building I always wanted to own and live at Ocean Grove condos.

I am employed by Family Service Center of Galveston County located here on the Island for the last 15 years. I am a Program Director and Therapist providing therapy services to youth and families who are involved in the Juvenile Justice Center. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling & Guidance from Texas State University. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor & Supervisor in the State of Texasas well as a Nationally Certified Counselor.

As an on-site owner I pay particular attention to the upkeep of the property and the positive quality of life here. I have been consistently available to listen to various owners in regard to their concerns, issues and suggestions that they perceive affect Ocean Grove. I continue to bring these owner concerns and/or suggestions to our monthly Board meetings where they are addressed.

As an elected Board member for the last 4 years I have strived to enhance the quality of life at Ocean Grove through the management of common areas, enforcement of rules and regulations, support of initiatives that strengthen bonds among residents, and investment in improvements that benefit the greater good for all who live at Ocean Grove.

Jim O'neill, Treasurer

Jim O’Neill is CEO of GEWI North America, a German based provider of transportation software.  Prior to joining GEWI in 2008 he was VP/GM of SmartRoute Systems.  SRS designed and operated public and private traffic services in the USA.  He also served as VP Product Development for Westwood One and was responsible for developing their first web traffic applications. He is also a USA Hockey referee, and in 2008 founded STARskaters.org, a non-profit organization whose SkateTherapy and Sled Hockey programs serve the Houston area disabled community. 

Jim and his wife Lilia purchased their unit at Ocean Grove in 2015 and he joined the Board in 2018.  

  They moved into Ocean Grove full time in March, 2019 for Lilia to operate her new business, the Galveston Experience Company  www.GalvestonExperience.com at 15th and Seawall Blvd.
